Getting to this viewpoint of the north end of Butterfly Pond draws some blood as the thirty yards of woods we navigate through to get here from the Great Road is filled with thorn-covered stems and branches. In fact, there is no place really to stand comfortably to take this shot and yet through a series of balancing acts, you can't notice that fact too much. If only the ice were reliably thicker as seeing the pond by skate would definitely by better than walking through brush.
